Summary
This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Project Safe Neighborhood Grant award in the amount of $184,085.00 from the Office of the Governor for the funding of personnel overtime in the amount of $142,835 and funding for a one year lease and installation of 15 license plate reader cameras in the amount of $41,250. This system will be used to identify, apprehend, and recover stolen vehicles entering the city limits and named “hot spots” within the city. The Camera systems will further assist in identifying known wanted suspects, assist in solving violent crimes, track known suspects linked to crimes within this and surrounding jurisdictions. There is no funding match for this grant from the City. Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney.
