Approving an ordinance on second reading with the caption reading: An Ordinance of The City of Pflugerville, Texas, amending the City of Pflugerville, Texas Code of Ordinances Title VII Traffic Code, Chapter 72 Traffic Schedules, Section II Speed Limits on City Streets to add provisions for Biltmore Avenue and Helios Way; providing for a penalty for a violation of Chapter 72 as a Class C Misdemeanor and a fine in an amount not to exceed $200.00; repealing all ordinances to the extent they are in conflict; providing for severability; and providing an effective date.
Summary
The City of Pflugerville desires to continue to protect and ensure the public health, safety, and welfare of its residents and businesses by regulating and guiding road users for the protection of the general travelling public. The City is amending Chapter 72 of our Code of Ordinances specifically relating to speed limits on public streets by updating the schedule of speed limits on City streets. This update is for roadway changes made through the end of year 2020 and will bring our ordinance in compliance with State Law in order to enforce speed limit violations on city streets. A list of the speed limit additions and modifications, vicinity map and the proposed ordinance are attached.

The section of Sun Light Near Way included in the speed study is already codified at 40 mph in the existing ordinance. The design engineer for Helios Way recommended reducing the speed limit along Sun Light Near Way to 35 mph in conjunction with installation of the all way stop at Helios Way and Sun Light Near Way.
