Approving a resolution amending the City's adopted Water Conservation Plan.
Summary
The City adopted a Water Conservation Plan by resolution in 2016 as required by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations. The regulations require that the City update the Plan every five years with revised five and ten year conservation goals. This Water Conservation Plan is required to be submitted to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) as well as the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to ensure that we have a plan in place to conserve water to the best of our ability. LCRA has reviewed our Water Conservation Plan and we have incorporated their comments into the 5-year plan. This plan also outlines what the City of Pflugerville will be performing over the next 5 years to meet our water conservation goals and how we can proactively work to minimize any unaccounted water loss within our water system. Some of the tasks that are identified in the plan that the City will be implementing in the next 5 years include both the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) project as well as a more targeted leak detection program to look at some older areas of town to reduce our unaccounted water loss. Other items that we will be continuing to do that have had success in the previous 5 year water conservation plan include proactively sending water conservation information to residents via the website and social media and selling rain barrels to our water customers at-cost to help encourage rainwater harvesting.

The City Council last approved a Water Conservation Plan in its May 24, 2016 regular meeting.
