Summary
Scott Mentzer Pool was substantially impacted by the winter storm event. All 6 pool motors, electrical panels, and pool plumbing sustained significant damage when submerged in freezing water for 5 - 6 days which will cost $54,798.15 to repair. Additionally, water seeped into minor cracks or deficiencies in the plaster, expanded, and caused major pockets, cracks, and holes in the plaster. Lastly, tiling was not damaged in the storm but is original to the facility. Most agencies replace tile when they replace plaster due to the impact during the replacement process. The full re-plaster and tile replacement cost is $116,850.00.
All the pool repairs have a lifespan of 10 - 15 years. The pool repair costs, totaling $171,648.15, have been included in the winter storm damage insurance claim to TML-IRP. Should insurance proceeds not cover the entire amount, the difference in funding will require an amendment to the budget that will be included in the next request for budget amendments.
