Consider action to award a construction contract for Geyser Avenue Drainage Improvements to Miller Brothers in the amount of $105,684.69 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
Summary
The scope of work for this project includes construction of an 18” storm line from the eastern dead end of E. Walter Avenue and extending Southeast to Geyser Avenue. Staff became aware of drainage issues at a property where the backyard of the property abuts to the dead end of E. Walter Avenue. As a result, this has caused drainage issues at the residence leading to City staff entering into an agreement with Halff Associates for Engineering Services in February of 2020.
With design being completed and drainage easement obtained from the resident, staff bid the project and upon bid closing on August 25th received one bid from Miller Brothers in the amount of $105,685.
The opinion of probable construction cost for the project provided by the Engineer consultant totaled $99,543. The majority of the cost difference between the Engineer’s estimate and the bid received was due to material cost where the cost of the storm pipe was approximately $50 per linear foot over the estimate.
This project will be funded with FY21 and FY22 funds.
