Each year, the Nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 to pay tribute to the culture, impact and heritage of the Hispanic and Latino American community. The observance of Hispanic Heritage Month began in 1988, under President Ronald Reagan and its roots date back to 1968, when President Lyndon B. Johnson announced the first Hispanic Heritage Week. This item has been included on the agenda to allow for the presentation of a Mayor's proclamation.
