Discuss and consider action to approve a resolution establishing a rideshare voucher program and service area with rideshare providers UBER and Maruti.
Summary
On August 23, 2022, City Council approved a contract with TRIPPP Consultanting to provide transit for the City in cooperation with UBER and Maruti. This program will begin on October 1, 2022, at the conclusion of the current transit pilot program with Capital Metro (CMTA), which ends September 30, 2022. The rideshare program, Pfetch a Ride, is established as a voucher program offering the opportunity for residents and visitors traveling within the City limits and to and from Tech Ridge Park and Ride the opportunity to utilize an alternate means of transportation. The average cost of an UBER ride in Pflugerville is between $12-$14. The recommendation for the program is to:
1) Establish an initial cost per ride of $4 and offer a $10 voucher per ride with 10, $10 vouchers offered per account each month (cost of a ride over $14 is paid for by the rider)
2) Establish a geographic area that includes rides within the city limits and Tech Ridge Park and Ride to and from Pflugerville
3) Riders requiring a wheel chair accessible vehicle will pay $4 per ride with no maximum on vouchers each month, and no cost per ride over $4
The proposal expands the current pilot service area of 3.3 square miles to cover the City limits (approximately 25 square miles).
