Discuss and consider action on an event funding request from Pflugerville Pride for Pflugerville Pride Pfestival.
Summary
City Council approved the City of Pflugerville Special Events Policy on November 29, 2022. Section 16 of the Special Events Policy states requests for City subsidy of an event that serves Pflugerville’s diverse population in a community-oriented environment may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the City Manager’s Office. The City Manager or their designee, may consider providing a subsidy for an event up to the amount established in the annual budget. For subsidy requests over the annual budgeted amount will require review and approval by the City Council.
Pflugerville Pride is requesting a $10,000 event subsidy request to support their 2023 Pflugerville Pride Pfestival to be held in Downtown Pflugerville in June 2023. Currently, this request is funded at $3,000 per the approved FY2023 Budget. While the City budgeted $3,000 for this year’s Pride Event, the Pflugerville Pride organization has officially requested a total subsidy of $10,000. This is an unfunded request for the delta of $7,000 which requires Council approval.
Options for City Council to discuss and consider:
1. Fund the delta of $7,000.
2. Fund a different amount.
3. Decline the subsidy request.
